Shane Victorino is an exciting player who has brought a lot to his team, regardless of what team he is playing for. He is an extremely good defensive player but is more than capable at the plate too. He has a lot of speed which allows him to stretch singles into doubles and doubles into triples. Here are some fun facts about Shane Victorino.

Aloha To The First!

Shane Victorino was the first Major League Baseball player born in Hawaii to hit 100 or more career home runs in the league. The Hawaiian born player who had the most home runs before him was Mike Lum who hit 90 while playing for the Braves, Reds, and Cubs from 1967 to 1981.

Minor League Teams

Including a brief one game rehab stint in 2013, Shane Victorino has played for a dozen different minor league teams: Great Falls Dodgers, Yakima Bears, Vero Beach Dodgers, Wilmington Waves, Jacksonville Suns, Las Vegas 51s, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, Reading Phillies, Lakewood BlueClaws, Clearwater Threshers, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, and the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Home Runs

Before joining Boston in 2013, Shane Victorino had hit 90 career home runs. Two of those 90 were hit while playing for the Phillies as an opponent of the Red Sox. The first in 2006 off of Matt Clement and the second in 2011 off of Josh Beckett.

The First Time Striking Out

The first pitcher to strike out Shane Victorino in the majors was Eric Gagne of the Dodgers.

Debut With The Red Sox

In his debut game with the Boston Red Sox, a victory over the Yankees on April 1st, 2013, Shane Victorino went 2 for 6 with 3 RBI.

Malcolm Smith was somewhat of a surprise name for many when he was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII when the Seattle Seahawks decidedly defeated the Denver Broncos. Here is a look at five fun facts about Malcolm Smith.

For A 10 Yard Loss Too!

The first NFL player Malcolm Smith tackled in the NFL was Ted Ginn Jr. of the 49ers. It came on a punt return in the second quarter of a Seattle loss.

Jersey Numbers

Malcolm Smith wears jersey number 53 for the Seahawks in the NFL. He wore jersey number six while playing college football at USC.

30? Seriously, 30?

Malcolm Smith was the 31st linebacker taken in the 2011 NFL Draft, when he was picked in the seventh round. He was even the second linebacker drafted that year by Seattle who had also taken K.J. Wright in the fourth round.

Timing Is Everything

Malcolm Smith had zero interceptions in the first 43 games of his NFL career. He then had four in a string of five games, including the final two games of the 2013 regular season, followed by one in the NFC Championship Game victory over the 49ers, and then of course one in Seattle’s Super Bowl win over the Broncos.

The Third Ever!

Malcolm Smith was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII when the Seahawks defeated the Broncos. He was just the third linebacker ever to win the award. The first two were Chuck Howley of the Cowboys in Super Bowl V and Ray Lewis of the Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV.
