Who Went Before Him?

The 13 players taken ahead of Jim Kelly in the 1983 NFL Draft were John Elway, Eric Dickerson, Curt Warner, Chris Hinton, Billy Ray Smith, Jimbo Covert, Todd Blackledge, Michael Haddix, Bruce Matthews, Terry Kinard, Tim Lewis, Tony Hunter, and James Jones.

The First 300 Yard Game

Jim Kelly’s first 300 yard game in the NFL came in his ninth career start in 1986, his rookie season, when he completed 29 of 39 passes for 342 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions in a loss to the Buccaneers.

What Team Did He Dominate

Jim Kelly threw more TD passes during his career in games against the Jets, a total of 33, than he did against any other team.

The Last One Of All

The last regular season TD pass of Jim Kelly’s career was a four yarder caught by Bills tight end Tony Cline in a win over the Chiefs. This was the only TD pass Cline ever caught from Kelly.

Undefeated!

Jim Kelly finished his career undefeated against six different NFL teams. He was 1-0 against the Panthers and Cowboys, 2-0 against the Cardinals and Rams, and 3-0 against the Packers and Giants.
