Number Nine

Matthew Stafford wears jersey number 9 for the Detroit Lions. Other quarterbacks who have worn that jersey for the team include Rodney Peete and Dan Orlovsky.

The First Of Them All

The first pass Matthew Stafford attempted in the NFL was completed in a loss to the Saints in the opening game of the 2009 season. It went for four yards and was caught by Bryant Johnson.

The First Sack

The first opposing player to sack Matthew Stafford in the NFL, and with the Lions, was Jonathan Vilma of the Saints.

A New Record!

On November 22, 2009, Matthew Stafford set a new NFL rookie record when he threw five touchdown passes in a Lions win over the Browns. Those five TD passes were caught by Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Brandon Pettigrew, Aaron Brown, and Will Heller.

His 100th!

On November 17, 2013, Matthew Stafford threw his 100th career touchdown pass in the NFL. It came in the second quarter of a loss to the Steelers, went for 79 yards, and was caught by Calvin Johnson.
