Ronda Rousey is one of the most popular fighter in the UFC right now and also the first woman to really make it big in the sport. Here is a look at five fun facts about this great athlete.

Happy Birthday!

Ronda Rousey shares her February 1st birthday with these famous names: Director John Ford, actor Clark Gable, poet Langston Hughes, Russian politician Boris Yeltsin, actor Garrett Morris, journalist Jessica Savitch, actress Sherilyn Fenn, singer Lisa Marie Presley, comedian Pauly Shore, poker player Phil Ivey, and One Direction’s Harry Styles.

Nicely Done, Mom!

Ronda Rousey’s mom is no slouch. In the 1984 she became the first American to take home Gold at the World Judo Championships. Today, she is the CEO of 7 Generation Games and was named in 2013 by Forbes as one of the “40 Women to Watch Over 40.”

The First Ever!

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, Ronda Rousey became the first American to win an Olympic Medal (bronze) in women’s judo since it became an Olympic sport in 1992.

Another First

With a career MMA record of 8-0 in early 2014, Ronda Rousey entered the ring to face undefeated Sara McMann. Not only would Rouse emerge victorious, but by winning by TKO with knees to the body, it was the first time she had ever won a match by anything other than an armbar.

But… Wrestling?

At Wrestlemania 31 in 2015, Ronda Rouse left her ringside seat during the show and made an appearance in the ring with The Rock.
