The Los Angeles Rams made Jared Goff the first player picked overall when they took him in the 2016 NFL Draft. This also made Goff the first player drafted by the Rams after returning to Los Angeles.

Jared Goff came out of the Cal Bears football program, having put up three very good seasons. He was labeled early on as one of the top prospects for the 2016 NFL Draft and many assumed, especially after the Rams traded up to the number one spot, that he would be the first player picked.
