Everyone knows the big name players who play for their favorite team. There are well known players though that make their name with one team but either start or finish their career with another. Sometimes this means that we forget their time on that team. The San Francisco 49ers are a great team with a fantastic history. Here is a look at 10 players you may not remember who played for the 49ers.

Randy Moss

Randy Moss had a Hall of Fame level career in the NFL with the Vikings and Patriots. He spent the 2012 season with the 49ers, caught 35 passes, gained 437 yards, and scored one touchdown.

Ty Detmer

Ty Detmer had a eight year NFL career after being a record breaking quarterback in college. He spent the 1998 season with the 49ers, getting the win in his only start.

Curtis Conway

After a long and productive career that saw him have multiple 1,000 yard seasons with the Bears and Chargers, Curtis Conway played the final season of his career in 2004 with the 49ers where he caught 38 passes for 403 yards and three touchdowns.

Brian Westbrook

Through eight seasons with the Eagles, Brian Westbrook was named to the Pro Bowl twice and played an important role in the Eagles deep runs into the playoffs. In 2010, his final NFL season, Westbrook played for San Francisco. That season saw him gain 340 yards rushing, 150 yards receiving, and score five touchdowns.

Ed McCaffrey

After three seasons with the Giants and prior to nine productive years with the Broncos, “Easy” Ed McCaffrey spent one year with the 49ers in 1994. He caught just 11 passes that year for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Steve Spurrier

Steve Spurrier is a National Championship winning college football head coach. He was also a Heisman Trophy winning college quarterback. From 1967 to 1975, a span of nine seasons, Spurrier played quarterback for the 49ers, mostly as a backup. His career record as a starter for the 49ers was 13-12-1.

Lawrence Phillips

Lawrence Phillips was a college football star at Nebraska and was eventually drafted with the sixth pick overall by the Rams in 1996. He was a troubled player who gave it a go with both the Rams and the Dolphins before spending the 1998 season with Barcelona in NFL Europe. His final NFL season was 1999 when he played with the 49ers. He gained 144 yards in about half a season that year, scoring two touchdowns.

Rick Mirer

Rick Mirer made a name for himself as a college quarterback at Notre Dame. He had an NFL career that spanned 11 years. He spent the 2000 season with the 49ers. This was the only season in his career when he did not start at least one football game. He threw 50 TD passes in the NFL. The only one caught by a 49ers player was caught by J.J. Stokes.

Wes Chandler

Wes Chandler was named to the Pro Bowl four times while playing for the Saints and the Chargers from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s. He was an important part of the famous Air Coryell offense in San Diego and led the NFL in 1982 in receiving yards and TD receptions. His final NFL season was in 1988 when he played in four games with the 49ers, catching four passes for 33 yards.

Renaldo Nehemiah

Renaldo Nehemiah was a world class hurdler who dominated his niche in track and field from 1978 to 1981 and then again from 1986 to 1991. In between, from 1982 to 1985, despite never having played college football, Nehemiah played as a wide receiver for the 49ers. He caught four TD passes during his time there.
